Gene W. Austin

Bartow - Gene W. Austin, age 81, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Winter Haven. Born January 19, 1940 in Lakeland, Mr. Austin was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked in the phosphate mining industry and most recently was employed with Inter-Chem as Sulphur Logistics Manager since 2003. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Jeannie” Austin, Bartow, daughter Terri Lowers, Lakeland, son Wesley Austin, Lafayette, LA; granddaughter Lindsay Lowers and husband Josh Gwynne, Bartow, great grandchildren Raygan Gwynne and William Gwynne; two brothers Jerry Austin and wife Bernie, Bartow, and Patrick Austin and wife Lynn of Lakeland, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ellen Austin, his sister Judy Elliotte and son-in-law Ray Lowers. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 205 E. Stanford Street in Bartow, FL from 2:00 -300 PM followed by a celebration service of Gene’s life at 3:00 PM. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
