Gary L. Wilson

Gary L. Wilson, age 80, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He was born July 12, 1945 in Plant City, FL to George "Sammy" & Mattie Wilson. Gary graduated from Mulberry High School class of 1963. He then graduated from the Florida School of Banking associated with the University of Florida. Gary started his banking career in April 1974 with Citrus & Chemical Bank and retired December 2007 as Vice President. He was a member and Past President of the Bartow Lions Club, a member of Heartland Private Industry Council, board member for the Community Redevelopment Agency of Bartow, past member of Bartow, Mulberry and Fort Meade Chamber of Commerce. One of Gary's many claims to fame was dressing up as Santa Claus for Christmas. He was an avid Hunter, Fisherman, Golfer and loved his New York Yankees. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Wilson. Gary is survived by his wife of 61 years Sandy Wilson of Lakeland and son Lamar Wilson of New Port Richey. Family will receive friends Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers make donation in Gary's name to SPCA or charity of your choice.
