Gary James Alfsen

Gary James Alfsen, age 66, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was born February 8, 1958 in Jacksonville, FL to James & Patricia Alfsen. Gary was a recently retired Bailiff with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. He loved spending time with his family, playing pickleball, playing tennis, and riding his motorcycle. Gary was an avid music lover and sang at many weddings and church services. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Janet Hall Alfsen of Bartow, two sons Chase Alfsen and Brett Alfsen both of Bartow, three brothers John Alfsen & wife Sandra of Lakeland, Tom Alfsen & wife Ashley and Greg Alfsen & wife Caryn both of Tallahassee, and sister Trish Drinkwater & husband Jim of Indio, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mike Alfsen. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2024 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Bartow. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
