Gail Bridges Murray

August 29, 1957 — February 24, 2017

Gail Bridges Murray of Bartow, 59 passed away peacefully on Friday 2/24/17 at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bartow on August 29,1957 she grew up in Ft. Meade and graduated from Ft. Meade High School in 1975. She worked in banking for several years, including Citrus & Chemical Bank, Flagship and Sun Trust Bank, after which she worked for Dr Thomas Fellner DDS for 18 years. She began her career with the City of Bartow in the Parks and Recreation Department before transferring to the the Community Redevelopment Agency for the last several years, being extensively involved in the Bartow Community. Known for her loving personality and smile, Gail was a member of the Bartow Chamber of Commerce where she was the recipient of the 2014 Spirit of Bartow Award and graduate of the Leadership Bartow Class 14, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Bartow Women’s Care Center Board, Bartow’s 4th of July Committee, past President of the Crickette Club, the Bloomin Arts Committee, Main Street Bartow, and a graduate of the Bartow Citizens Police Acadamy, a founding member of The Lakeland Corvette Club, a member of Bartow First Assembly of God where she had participated in missions trips to Belgium and Ecuador. She, along with her husband were the coordinators for the Friday Fest, Bloomin Arts and Craft Fair car shows in downtown Bartow. Always energetic and adventurous, Gail loved biking and hiking, but most of all loved to travel, and last year was able to fulfill her dream of visiting Italy. Spending time in their cabin in the North Georgia Mountains was one of her greatest pleasures. Gail is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucille Bridges, and her brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Betty Bridges. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Tony, her son Gregory Langston of Plant City, sister-in-law Lana Pipes of Washington DC, nephew Curtis Bridges of Lakeland and her wonderful and loving Crickette Sisters. Family will receive friends Monday February 27, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Whidden-Mclean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 28, 2017 at 11 am at Bartow First Assembly of God, 915 S. Broadway Ave. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL Memorials may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, 12902 Magnolia Dr. Tampa, FL 33612 or Bartow First Assembly, 915 S.
