Gail Nettles Bretz

Gail Nettles Bretz, age 75, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023. She was born June 13, 1948 in Bartow, FL to William D. & Mildred Locke Nettles. Gail retired as a bailiff for the Polk County Sheriff Department after 15 years of service . She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bartow. She was a former Jaycee and a Florida Gator Booster. She was preceded in death by her parents and half brother Ray Young. Gail is survived by her husband Fred Bretz of Bartow, sister in law, Joanne “Tippy” Roberts of Gainesville, daughter Caren Bodine & husband Mark of Lakeland, brother Bill Nettles & wife Linda of Bartow, grandchildren Jett & Ava Bodine of Lakeland, and nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, October 27, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church, 355 S. Florida Avenue in Bartow, FL. A Celebration of Gail's Life will follow immediately afterwards at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.
