G. Kenneth Belflower. Papa, G-Papa, or Mr. Ken, was born to the late Irmon and Bertha Belflower in Georgia, 1929. His childhood was spent during the Depression helping his parents and recently deceased brother, Milton Belflower through those difficult times. He joined the Regular Army at a young age and spent that time in the military in Northern Japan with the occupying forces after WWII. He then came home and married Mary Claire. After a few short years of marriage was recalled to the Korean Conflict, where he earned purple hearts. His children include Elspeth Belflower, George and Laura Belflower Jr., and Cynthia Belflower Fox. He completed college and moved his family to Bartow, Florida. He spent the next 45 years as a chemist at Royster Phosphate Company. He liked to say, “He was hired when the Mulberry plant opened, and he stayed with the company until it closed”. He was the proud grandfather of: Kathryn Murphy and the late Jeff Murphy, Jake Meeks and fiancé Jennifer Helms, Jenna Barnett and husband John Connally Barnett, Janna Belflower Moodie and husband Chris Moodie, Jason Sullivant, Brandy Sullivant, Jessica Fox Hickman and husband Joseph Hickman, Edward Fox II and fiancé Tiffany Raemsch , and Marissa Ortiz. His great grandchildren include Megan Meeks, (Jack) J.C. Barnett IV, (Sam) Samuel Barnett, Kenneth Harrell IV, McKenzie Harrell, Brookelin Fox, Katelynn Fox, Crosslyn Fox, and Brie Moodie. Great step grandchildren include; Brooke Raemsch and Dominick Watson. After the passing of his first wife Mary, he married his second wife, Jean Hinckley, now deceased. He served his family during the Depression; He served his country during WWII and Korea. He served the world by producing fertilizer. He responded to the call, he served faithfully. He protected his family, his country and those people abroad. He sacrificed; he lost two wives, a mother and father, and a brother. He held firm to his beliefs and did his duty to all. Funeral services, with Military Honors, will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the graveside in Bartow Wildwood Cemetery.
