Frederick "Mike" Estridge

Frederick "Mike" Estridge, age 75, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024. He was born August 24, 1948 in Bartow, FL to Frederick & Janet Estridge. Mike graduated from Mulberry High School class of 1966. After high school he graduated from Polk Junior College and went to the University of Florida on a golf scholarship. Mike served two years in the US Navy serving in Bremerhaven, Germany, then he returned to the University of Florida and graduated in 1974. He then went to work for W.S. Badcock Corp. for 40 years as the Vice President of Merchandising and retired in 2013. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands in Lakeland, American Legion Post 72 in Mulberry, Florida State Golf Association and a lifetime member of the University of Florida Alumni Association. Mike was a 7 time winner of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Villa Classic Golf Tournament and many other State & local golf tournaments. He was honored with the "The Billy Chase, Jr." memorial award for his achievements, spirit and dedication to the University of Florida by the Polk County Gator Club in 2012. Mike was inducted into the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Mark Davis. He is survived by his wife Joanne Estridge of Lakeland, daughter Tammy Belcher of Lakeland and Elizabeth Jett (Cody) of Green Cove Springs, sister Jane Gonzales (Murray) of Milton, neice Kate Morgan, nephew Tommy Gonzalez and 5 grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands, 1010 Lake Miriam Drive in Lakeland. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands in Lakeland, FL. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Alliance For Independence, 2710 W.
