Fred Cordua

Lakeland - Fred Cordua, age 79, passed away November 26, 2023, at his residence in Lakeland with his wife of 42 years, Janice, at his side. He was born on August 30, 1944, in Marion, VA and grew up in Havre de Grace, MD. From a young age, Fred had a strong interest in electronics and turned that passion into a successful career, first in Maryland then in 1974 he moved his family to Florida and built a career designing and building state of the art laser systems designed for various defense contractors. Fred retired in 2001 as Program Manager for Schwartz Electro-Optics and shortly after he and Janice moved to Lakeland so they could be closer to their grandchildren. Music, electronics and being part of the Boy Scouts were always a big part of his life, and he was especially proud of the fact he was close enough to watch, and help with, his grandkids growing up. He is survived by his wife Janice Cordua of Lakeland, sons Thomas (Carie) of Lakeland and Arthur (Tracy) of Winter Garden, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
