Bartow - Frank F. Phillips, Jr. 88, died on December 28, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Winter Haven, Fla. Frank was born in Meridian, Mississippi on September 12, 1930 to Nona and Frank Phillips, Sr. His early childhood years were spent in Norma, Tennessee before moving to Lakeland, FL at the age of ten. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1948. He attended the University of Florida where he was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha social fraternity, and the Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity. Frank and his high school sweetheart Addie Jean Jackson were married in 1951 and lived in Gainesville, Fl until his graduation from the College of Pharmacy in 1952. After graduation, he served with the U.S .Army for two years as a pharmacist at Camp Leroy Johnson Hospital in New Orleans, LA. After receiving his discharge, he served seven years with the Florida National Guard, 2nd Battalion, 116th Field Artillery. In 1960 Frank accepted a position at Wilson Drug Company in Bartow. In 1964, he purchased the business and was the owner and pharmacist until 2002 when it was sold. He loved his work and those he served. Frank was a faithful member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bartow, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a past president of Peace River County Club, a longtime member of Bartow Rotary Club and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. Frank was a gifted piano player and at gatherings loved entertaining for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Howard E. Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Addie Jean Phillips of Bartow, their children: Melissa Phillips Osthoff (Bruce) & Frank F. (Phil) Phillips III, grandchildren: Chelsea L Yearwood, Lindsey N. Yearwood and his brother Jerry L. Phillips (Jill) of Pagosa Springs, CO. The family would like to thank the staff of Cornerstone Hospice and Brookdale Senior Living Facility for all their kindness. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Bartow, funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the church.
