Frances Macnamara Waters, 90, died Sunday, January 11, 2009, at her residence in Bartow of respiratory failure. Born July 23, 1918 in Atlanta, Mrs. Waters has been a resident of Bartow 57 years, moving from Stuart, FL. Mrs. Waters was a graduate of Girls High School, class of 1935 of Atlanta; graduate of University of Tampa with a BS degree in education. She was a member of the Bartow First United Methodist Church serving as Church historian and contributor to the church newsletter. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Society; Tampa Golden Spartans, Alpha Psi Omega; University 313 Masquera Drama Club & contributor the Inman Park Advocator Newspaper. Mrs. Waters was an educator for over 35 years, teaching at Bartow Elementary and Bartow Junior High and Alturas Elementary. She also taught in Orlando and Atlanta. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Wendell D. Waters of Bartow; daughters: Nadine Robbins & Husband John Johnson of Bartow; Dorothy & husband Chris Cleaves of Palm Bay; son: Roger & wife Joan Waters of Auburndale; 7 grandchildren: Michael & wife Jeannie Waters; Rose Robbins & husband Rodrigo Sanchez; Suzanne & husband David Boeren; Deborah Cleaves; Derek Cleaves; Kathy Waters; Steven Waters 3 great grandchildren: Sammy Waters; Annabelle Waters; Isabel Frances Sanchez; Sister-in-laws Kathleen Macnamara & Dorothea Macnamara. Family will receive friends Friday January 16, 2009, 6-8 pm at First United Methodist Church, 455 S. Broadway Ave, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10 am at the Church. Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church 455 S. Broadway Bartow 33830, Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave. Auburndale 33823 or charity of choice.
