In Loving Memory...
We gather with heavy hearts to honor the life of Frances Simmons, who peacefully passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 68, in Mulberry, Florida. Frances, born on September 12, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, was a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
Frances was the cherished daughter of Willie Paul Needham and Geneva Mullins, who have preceded her in death along with her beloved husband, Arthur "Buddy" Simmons Jr., and her dear sister, Darlene Walker. Frances leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, survived by her two daughters, Samantha Hyman and Angela Watters, four siblings, four grandchildren (three granddaughters and one grandson), and six great-grandchildren.
Frances dedicated over 28 years of her life to serving the elderly as a healthcare activities director. Her passion was evident as she continuously found fulfillment in helping others. So much so that even those who regarded her dedication remarked that “retiring was harder than dying.”
Frances was not only devoted to her work but also to her faith. A devout Christian, she found strength in her spirituality. Frances was frequently found praying before every meal and before she went to bed with a fervent belief in the power of prayer.
Frances had a vibrant personality, known for her funny and free-spirited nature. She loved all forms of shopping. Gift-giving was her unique love language, making every occasion special for family and friends. Frances also enjoyed fishing, particularly on tranquil lakes, as well as the delightful chaos of family gatherings. She had an extraordinary way of connecting with her grandchildren, often staying up late watching scary movies with the teenagers and then playing outside all day with the younger ones, crafting memories that will last a lifetime.
We take solace in the beautiful memories she created and the love she shared with all of us. Frances will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, a true testament to a life well-lived.
