Frances Lewis

Fort Meade- Frances Lewis, age 89 and a resident of Fort Meade, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Lakeland. Born March 8, 1929 in Bartow, she was the daughter of the late John Reid and Daisy Reid Johnston. Mrs. Lewis was a school teacher for many years, teaching in Pasco, Hardee and Polk County Schools. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Fort Meade and the Fort Meade Literacy Council. Frances is preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Lewis, and siblings: David Reid and Laurie Mofield. She is survived by her children: Karl Lewis (Verna) of Bartow, Patricia Lusby (John) of Lakeland and Kathryn Billups (John) also of Lakeland. She also leaves behind her sister Rose Reid of Florence, SC, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5th from 10am to 11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home at P.O. Box 8190 Lakeland, FL 33802.
