Floyd H. "Red" Sowell, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Born December 5, 1935 in Wausau, FL, Mr. Sowell had been a Bartow resident for 45 years moving from Pinellas Park. Mr. Sowell was the general manager of McDonald/TCI Tire Centers of Mulberry for 24 years. He formerly was a foreman for McDonald Construction of Lakeland for many years. Mr. Sowell was an avid Nascar fan. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Sowell. He is survived by two daughters; Carol & husband Ronnie Warren of Highland City; Linda Miller of Bartow; one brother Bernard & wife Sue Sowell of Hernando, FL; one sister Shirley Gallops of Brooksville; three grandchildren: Matthew Warren of Bartow; Jennifer Warren of Highland City; Nicky & husband Joe Quarles of Bartow; great granddaughter Hannah Quarles of Bartow. Family will receive friends Monday, August 17 from 6- 8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 18 at 10:00 am at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
