Evelyn Fances Swinson

Evelyn Frances Swinson, age 90, passed away December 31, 2022, in Lakeland. Born December 30, 1932, in Mayo, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Edith (Brock) Moses. Mrs. Swinson was an Educator most of her professional career. She was a member of the Bartow Church of God where she was active in the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Evelyn had a servant’s heart and when family or friends were recovering from illness, she would provide a meal for them. She was diligent in sending cards to everyone she knew for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and thank you’s. Evelyn organized and hosted a group of approximately fifteen her high school girlfriends and called it Lunch Bunch.” For many years, they would meet monthly for lunch. It was important to her that friends were never forgotten, and she made the effort in many ways to include them in her life. She took pride in organizing the Summerlin Institute “Class of 1950” reunions each year. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Griffin. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jim Swinson of Lakeland, her daughter, Peggy Willis, her stepchildren: Harold M Swinson, Ethan Swinson, Alicyn Jacobson (Alan), her siblings: Ray Moses, Mildred Nolin and Linda Harris. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6th from 1pm to 2pm at the Bartow Church of God, 1460 East Stuart Street in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the church.
