Evelyn Barefoot

Evelyn Barefoot, age 93, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024. She was born January 12, 1931 in Frostproof, FL to Horace & Lorena Campbell. Evelyn was a Administrative Secretary at Polk General Hospital in Bartow for 17 years. She attended Oak Park Baptist Church in Fort Meade, Alturas Baptist Church and Wildwood Baptist Church in Bartow. She was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating her retirement years as a full-time caregiver to her disabled son. She gave her all to others and ask little in return. Heaven must be rejoicing at her arrival. She was preceded in death by her son Lonnie DeVane and husband Russell Barefoot. Evelyn is survived by her son Tommy DeVane & wife Sandra of Indian Lake Estates, FL, grandchildren Robert Bryon DeVane & wife Kristen, Melissa Garthwaite Kontny & husband Todd, Danielle Keen, Jessica Holmes & husband Chad, and Janie DeVane, great grandchildren, Colby Garthwaite, Chloe Garthwaite, Megan Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Faith Holmes and Brody Holmes. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL.
