Ettie Lee "Shorty" Waters

Bartow- Ettie Lee "Shorty" Waters, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, of natural causes. Born August 21, 1920 in Slocomb, AL, Mrs. Waters has been a resident of Bartow since 1946, moving from Avon Park, FL. She was the owner of Lon-ettes Beauty Shop for over 30 years. She later worked with S&S Antiques and Yesterday & Today Collectables in Bartow. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow where she served as Sunday School teacher and with the Nursing Home Ministry. She was a certified Chaplin doing mission work with Campers on Mission in North Carolina for over 15 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 yrs: Harold Waters and son: Gene Waters. She is survived by her son; Larry Waters & wife Sandra of Bartow; six grandchildren: David Waters; Donna Purvis & husband Doug, Sandie Williamson & husband David; Julie Minor & husband Todd, all of Bartow; Pam Coleman & husband Alan, Parker, TX, & Jason Waters, Lithia; daughter-in-law: Jane Lewis & husband Rick, Lithia; 10 great grandchildren & one great great grandchild. Family will receive friends Monday, June 20, 2011 , 6-8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21 at 11:00 am at the Bartow First Baptist Church, 410 E. Church St. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Food Pantry, 410 E.
