Ethel P. Hammer

Ethel P. Hammer, age 91. passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 in Bartow. Born January 22, 1926 in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Nola (Holden) Elsesser. Ethel was a homemaker and worked hard to support her family. She attended the First Baptist Church of Lake Garfield and her strong faith in Christ was always evident in her life. Along with her parents, Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hammer, daughter, Marilyn Acosta, two brothers: Edward and Ernest Elsesser, a grandchild, Cynthia Cruz and a great grandchild, Brian Green. She is survived by a loving family that includes two children: William Wesley Smith (Patty) of Coppell, TX, Janice Smith Dyal (Buddy) of Bartow and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 16th from 1pm to 2pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home chapel.
