E.R. "Buddy" Murkerson

Edgar Ray (Buddy) Murkerson, 80, passed away peacefully from heart failure at his residence in Bartow on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Mr. Murkerson was born in Miller County, Georgia and moved to Bartow in 1953. He was the ICWU President for Local 377 in Bartow for 15 years. He was a retired Land Surveyor working for U. S. Agri-Chemicals in Fort Meade for 37 years. He was a member of Lake Ruth Baptist Church in Bartow. He enjoyed his family, his garden, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his son Alan Murkerson (Sylvia) of Willow Oak, daughters, Robbin Bullock (Gary) of Lakeland and Teri Lawrence (Damon) of Bartow, six grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Also his sisters Edna Evans of Kissimmee and Jimmie Bush of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and their son Michael Shane. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home Saturday, September 7, 2013. Memorial contributions can be made to Lake Ruth Baptist Church, Bartow, FL. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
