Emmitt E. Adkison

Emmitt E. Adkison, 80, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at his residence of heart failure. Born October 17, 1932 in Hacoda, AL, Mr. Adkison was a resident of Bartow for 59 years, moving from Alabama. He was a dragline operator for U.S. Steel Phosphate for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed hunting & gardening. Mr. Adkison was preceded in death by his wives: Willawane & Linda Adkison and two sisters Lois Thielen & Lavelle Churchwell. He is survived by three daughters: Cathy Blair & Janice Cruz of Bartow and Renee Adkison of Lakeland. two brothers: Marlin Adkison of Bartow & Holland Adkison of Dothan, AL; two sisters: Annette Griffin of Bartow & Patricia Allen of Crawfordville, FL; 9 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1101 N.
