Fort Meade - Elsie Irene Cook, 95, passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cook was born February 14, 1920 in Fort Meade, FL, She was a Homemaker and lifelong resident of Fort Meade. Elsie was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. She was a member of the Joy Club and past choir member. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star Fort Meade chapter 47. She also loved gardening, sewing & embroidery. She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd Cook and infant son Loyd M. Cook. She is survived by four daughters, Katherine Parrish (Joe), Marilyn Henderson, Laverne Layton (Charles) and Pauline Bass (Bill). Sister, Yvonne Day (Harvey) and sister-in-law, Juanita Parker. Seven grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her two dogs Happy & Bridget. Family will receive friends Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10 to 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Funeral service will follow 11:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church Joe Parrish and Kenny Slay officiating. Burial will be held at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund or Florida Baptist Children's Home.
