Edwina L. Prevatte

Mrs. Edwina L. Prevatte, age 84, passed away from complications of dementia Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at home in Bartow. Born December 13, 1928 in Bartow, Edwina was the daughter of the late Tom and Pearl Wheeler. Mrs. Prevatte served as the secretary for 50 years for Prevatte Oil Company in Bartow. She was a longtime member and Sunday School Teacher of the Bartow First Baptist Church. Along with caring for her family she enjoyed volunteering at the church. Edwina was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Priscilla Prevatte. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 65 years, Charles A. Prevatte of Bartow, four sons; Kevin Prevatte (Kay-Kay), Terry Prevatte (Cindy) all of Bartow, Ricky Prevatte (Linda) of Mulberry, Roddy Prevatte (Pam) of Alturas, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two boys she loved like her own sons; Terrell Lyle (Nancy) of Auburndale, and Marion Wheeler (Sharon) of Bartow. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 18th from 6PM to 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Friday, July 19th at 10:00AM at the Bartow First Baptist Church, 410 East Church Street in Bartow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry care of the Bartow First Baptist Church, 410 East Church Street, Bartow, FL 33830.
