Edward K. Shipman

Edward K. Shipman, age 62, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, Born August 4, 1949 in Hendersonville, NC, he had been a resident of Bartow area for the past 35 years. Mr. Shipman was a Detention Deputy for the Polk County Sheriff's Office, whom he had worked for for the last 24 years. He attended Grace Lutheran Church of Winter Haven. Mr. Shipman was formerly employed with Environ in Haines City and was an avid tennis player, including teaching tennis for several years. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife Nancy L. Shipman of Bartow, his daughter Kelly Shipman and husband Shawn of Pittsboro, NC, his two step sons; James Parker and wife Marinda of Bartow, Rick Parker of Jacksonville, and his brother Ken Shipman and wife Debbie of Hendersonville, NC. He also leaves behind five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 327 Ave. C, South East in Winter Haven on Friday, August 19th at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Polk County Sheriff's Office Charities.
