Edna Havis, age 78, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at her residence in Wahneta. Born August 5,1931 in Athens, Alabama, Mrs. Havis has been a resident of Wahneta for over 37 years. She operated the Bassham's Restaurant in Lake Wales and Edna'a Country Kitchen in Haines City for several years. She was an avid fisherman. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by three sons: Charles A. "Chuck" Havis of Bartow; Cecil Lee Jones of Gainesville & Edward "Bo" Havis of Webster, FL; daughter: Irene Mable Briston of Fountain, FL; sister: Louella Whitfield of Green Cove Springs; two brothers: Bobby Joe Bassham of Winter Haven & Leroy Bassham of Bonifay; 13 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Saturday, August 15, 2009, 10-11 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
