Mrs. Eddie Lou Mathews passed away from heart failure Sunday July 8, 2007 at her home in Highland City. She was 79.
Born on September 15, 1927 in Cochran, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosa Pitts. Mrs. Mathews worked as a sectionizer for Ben Hill Griffin Inc. In more recent years she was a homemaker. She was also a member of Bethel Church of God.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James W. Mathews and a great granddaughter, Cassie Lynn Fussell. She is survived by a loving family that includes a daughter, Debbie Fussell (James) of Highland City and a son Jim Mathews (Jeanette) of Axson, GA. She is also survived by a grandson, Jeremey Fussell (Judith) of Bartow and a granddaughter April McMullins (Travis) of Clermont, and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 11, 2007 from 5 PM to 7PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street, Bartow. Services for Mrs. Mathews will follow Thursday July 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel.
