Doug Machold

    John Douglas “Doug” Machold passed peacefully on Feb. 17, 2018. He was born in Lakeland, on Jan. 15, 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Lakeland; a town he loved. Doug attended Cleveland Court Elementary School, Southwest Jr. High and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1972. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, and after his tour was over, he returned to Lakeland, where he began working at the mines which is now Mosiac and retired in 2015. Doug loved the outdoors, often spending his leisure time fishing, target shooting and coin collecting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Christine Machold. He is survived by his daughter Emily, grandson Carter of Lakeland, Sisters Ann (Tim) of Lakeland, Gayle (Ali) of Atlanta, GA and Aunt Betty of Eagle Lake. Doug's family was very special to him. We loved him in return and will miss him very much. A Memorial Service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.
