Dorothy Loshinskie

Bartow - Dorothy Loshinskie, age 88, passed away peacefully, at her home in Bartow on December 11, 2023. Her son and daughter-in- law were by her side while she quietly transitioned to her new home in Heaven. Dorothy was born on March 3, 1935, in Belleville, Michigan. After working many years for the Van Buren Public School District, she started a new role in the Graduate Admissions Department for Eastern Michigan University. She was a devoted member of Zion Missionary Church in Belleville Michigan, and Crossroads Baptist Church in Bartow Florida. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Carla J. Loshinskie in 1984 and her husband Carl A. Loshinskie in 2006. She is survived by her son Calvin Loshinskie and daughter-in-law Mary Tinsley. She was blessed to have 5 loving grandchildren: Dr. Austin Loshinskie (Mackenzie), Dr. Alyssa Loshinskie, Jonathan Loshinskie, Peyton Tinsley, and Luke Tinsley. Dorothy was active in and around Bartow for many years. One of her favorite activities was traveling to different places to play Bingo with her closest friends, many of whom lived in the Floral Lakes community Dorothy called home. She always enjoyed hearing them yell “BINGO” more than winning herself. She was an avid reader, loved baking, trying new recipes, and enjoyed attending as many theater productions as possible in the Winter Haven area. While at home she loved to knit and crochet and throughout the years made several articles of clothing which she donated to charity. Dorothy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. Rather than let life live her, she lived life. Her beautiful example of always putting ‘others’ first is a true testament to how she set about living each and every day and she will be greatly missed. Along with Dorothy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation of time or money to a charitable organization be made in her name. This is consistent with the way she led her life. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday, December 22, 2023, at David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville, MI 48111-2764 (734)697-4500 and 10-11 AM Saturday, December 23, 2023 with an 11:00 AM Funeral service. Interment will follow in Martinsville Cemetery, Sumpter Township, Michigan.
