Dorothy K. "Dot" Mccroan

Dorothy K. "Dot" McCroan, age 83, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, in Auburndale. Born May 21, 1939, in Donalsonville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Kelley and Hattie Juanita (Odom) Kelley. Mrs. McCroan was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow, where she served as a Bible Study teacher, sang in the choir and started the Anna Group, a support group for widows. She was a proud member of Summerlin Institute Class of 1957. Her career as a legal secretary began while still in high school at Holland & Knight Law Office and continued for 30 years ending as a Judicial Assistant. She was also a Diplomat for the Bartow Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Zonta Club and volunteered at Bartow Regional Medical Center. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ken McCroan and sister Linda Kelley LeRoy. She is survived by her children: Michael McCroan of Ocoee, and Karen McCroan of Bartow. Dot also leaves behind her sister. Sylvia Hamlett (Larry) of Pulaski, TN and her grandsons; Dylan McCroan and Rhett McCroan (Lauren). The family will receive friends on Thursday September 15th from 5pm to 7pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home of Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Friday, September 16th at the First Baptist Church of Bartow.
