Dorothy Nell Green

Dorothy Nell Green, formerly Dorothy Nell Grace, and affectionatley known as "Nanny Dorothy" left this earthly life on July 19, 2014. She was born in Geneva County, Alabama on March 10, 1942 and later moved to Polk County. Dorothy was a talented quilter, could crochet, and was a very good southern cook. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Vera Grace, daughter Karyn Wilkerson Houghton, brothers Harold and Dale Grace, Sisters Estelle Caraker and Aundry Eldridge. She is survived by two sons, David Wilkerson of Cottonwood, Alabama and Darren Wilkerson of Bartow Florida. Brothers Jim Grace of Bradenton, Danny and Clifford Grace of Bartow and a sister Patricia Blair of Defuniak Springs, Florida. She also leaves behind granddaughters that she raised, Krissy Mayhew of Princeton, North Carolina, Sarah Glass of Clermont, Florida and Kaylee and Emily Houghton of Bartow. Also a Great Grandson Brylan Adams of Clermont, Florida. Dorothy leaves behind many nieces and nephews who thought the world of her. She also left behind Jeanetta Everett, someone who was very close to Dorothy. Dorothy was a beautiful and kind person who will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Family will receive friends Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
