Donald R. Langston

Mr. Donald Ross Langston, age 81, of Fort Meade, FL, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from his battle with cancer, at his Residence in Fort Meade, FL. He was born February 11, 1927 in Bowling Green , FL. Mr. Langston was Owner/Operator of Langston Standard Oil and Chevron Service Station for 38 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. He was also a member of Fort Meade Masonic Lodge Order #160 and past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star #47. He was a member of the Fort Meade Historical Society, Fort Meade Lion's/Civic Club, American Legion Post # 23, and a former City Commissioner & Mayor of Fort Meade. He Served in the US Merchant Marines during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy M. Langston of Fort Meade. Three Daughters, Judy Birdsong and her husband Mike of Fort Meade, Cheryl Morrison and her husband Jack of Lakeland, FL, and Cammie Langston of Bartow, FL. One Son, Donald K. Langston and wife Lois of Fort Meade. One Sister, Betty Taylor of Zolfo Springs, FL. One Brother, Norman & Lois Langston of Avon Park, FL. Nine Grandchildren and Eight Great-Grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday, August 29, 2008. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 30, 2008 , Rev. Kenny Slay officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL.
