Donald L. Heckman

Lakeland - Donald L. "Don" Heckman, age 85, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at Consulate Health Care of Lakeland of heart failure. Born February 5, 1929 in Mishawaka, IN, Mr. Heckmam was a resident of Lakeland for 51 years, moving from Mishawaka. He was an equipment sales representive for Linder Machinery for many years. He was an accomplished woodworker and member of the Woodcrafters of Winter Haven. He was a WW II U.S. Marine Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Pauline Heckman and a brother, Dallas Heckman. Mr. Heckman is survived by his daughter Sandy Sheffield and husband Steve of Plant City; granddaughter, Bailey Morris and husband Jeff of Arlington, TX; grandson, Will Sheffield, of Plant City. Family will receive friends Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main Street, Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, Lakeland.
