Donald L. Grader

Cdr Donald L. Grader, USNR, 91, died Sunday, Dec 20, 2009, at Oakbridge Health Care in Lakeland of heart failure. Born June 9, 1918 in Cleveland, OH, Mr. Grader was a resident of Lakeland since 1967, moving from Virginia Beach, VA. He was a retired Naval Commander, serving 26 years in the US Navy, serving in WW II, Korea & Vietman. He was a life member of the Military Retired Officer's Association. He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, a member of the Republician Men's Club; former member of the Brevard, NC Kiwanis Club; & Vice President of Florida Air Tool Inc. for 21 yrs. He is survived by his wife of 65 yrs, Mary M. Grader; two daughters: Martha Shuman & husband David Shuman of Lakeland; Holly Stewart & husband Jack Stewart Jr. of Plantation, FL; 3 Grandchildren: Heather Fox; Jack Stewart III & Bryant Stewart and 3 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec 22, 6-8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Wed 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery with military honors.
