Donald S. Gibson

Donald S. Gibson March 15, 1935 - March 28, 2025 Don Gibson, aged "90" years, passed away on Friday, March 28, after a brief illness in his home. He was born and raised in Independence, Missouri, the only child of his parents. In 1957 he graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis on marketing and finance. From a young boy, Don exhibitedavery strong work ethic; it served him well. His climb up the career ladder began with Armco Steel and continued for decades with various companies and ever increasing sales territories and responsibilities. His career was interrupted for a short time by a stint in the Air Force during the Berlin Crisis. Eventually his work led him to Florida; Polk Equipment and Certified Slings. Don was an avid runner and was active in the sport into his 80's. He always was interested in cars, especially Corvettes! He and his wife, Dottie, participated in many events with the Lakeland Corvette Club. Don loved his family and his church family at Highlands Church of Christ. Don leaves his wife; Dottie Gibson; four children, Greg Gibson (wife Julie), Danielle Gibson, Todd Powell (wife Gloria); Kim Joiner (husband Steve); eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all. Celebration of Life which will be held on April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am in honor of Don Gibson at the Highlands Church of Christ on 5730 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland 33813. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be sent to the Highlands Church of Christ, 5730 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland, FL 33813 for "Honduras Missions".
