Donald R. Cox

Bartow - Donald R. Cox, age 83, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was born October 7, 1934 in Slocomb, AL, Don served in the US Navy. He was a resident of Bartow since 1959, moving from Troy, AL. He was a Teacher, Principal and Assistant Superintendant for Polk County School Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow, a Deacon and taught Sunday School. He was a past member of the Kiwanis club. He was preceded in death by his brother Rex Cox. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joel "Jo" Cox of Bartow, two daughters; Donna Hollingsworth (Fred) of Valrico and Debra May (Martin) of Tallahassee, two brothers; Robert Cox (Martha) and William Cox, sister; Suzanne Pritchett (Howard), four grandchildren; Jamin, Kyle, Chris and Corey. Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Bartow. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL.
