Dick L. Tomlinson, age 75, died from cancer Tuesday Sept. 9, 2008 at home in Bartow. Born April 25, 1933 in South Bloomfield, Ohio, and growing up in Tampa, FL, Mr. Tomlinson was the son of the late James Glen and Ruth (Perkins) Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson worked as a chemist for Owens Corning. He was very active in the Floral Lake Community serving as a board member of the home owner's association and also enjoyed bowling the Floral Lakes Bowling League. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary (Smith) Tomlinson of Bartow, daughter Christine Tomlinson also of Bartow, two sisters; Helen Miller (Charles) of Tampa, and Mary Ann Colter (Gene) of Sarasota. He also leaves behind nine nieces and nephews and two honorary grandsons; Cory and Troy. A celebration of Dick's life will be held Saturday Sept. 13th at 11:00 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church 1650 South Jackson Ave. in Bartow with a reception to follow immediately afterwards in the church fellowship hall.
