Alturas - Dick Murphy , age 78, passed away September 18, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Health and Medical Center. He was born on August 10, 1945, in Tampa, FL. He was an Equipment Technician for GTE. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting and guns. He is survived by a loving family that includes his son Justin Murphy (Shieleah) of Bartow, fiancée Carol Comer of Mulberry, sisters Sue Carter of St. Petersburg & Chris Conner-Bernstein of Miami, granddaughter Layla Murphy of Bartow and niece Melony Carter of St. Petersburg. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. The interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
