David James Wilkie , 81, died at the Rohr Home in Bartow, of heart failure, on March 9, 2007. He was born March 19, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. In 1984, he moved to Bartow from Redford Township, Michigan. He was a plumber. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Fourth Division Marines in the South Pacific. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and Bartow Men's Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ada Louise Wilkie. He is also survived by three children; a daughter, Judith and husband Joseph Aristeo of Bloomfield Hills, MI, two sons, Patrick and wife Mary Wilkie of Charlottesville, VA, and Jeffrey and wife Mary Jane Wilkie of Livonia, MI. His grandchildren are Anne, Michelle, Lauren, and Bryan. He also leaves three sisters; Betty Theisen of Dearborn, MI, Margaret Papa(Mrs. Peter) of Canton, MI, Joanne Mongrain(Mrs. William) of Plymouth, MI, and one brother; Richard Wilkie of Winter Haven, FL. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Detroit, MI serving as warden and usher.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Michigan.
