David Wayne Wood

David Wayne Wood, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in Bartow. Born May 7, 1965, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Jerry Wayne Watkins and Genevieve Patricia Cribbs, Jr. David was an Owner/Operator for a trucking company after working for Trans Phos Inc. for many years. He is survived by a loving family that includes his fiancé, Karen Gilley of Winter Haven, his children: David L. Wood of Lakeland, Rebecca L. Estes (Dustin) of Winter Haven, Skylar E. Dees (Robert) of Fort Eustis, VA, Logan H. Wood of Bartow, and Landon S. Wood of Auburndale, bonus children: Nicole Leebert of Winter Haven, Matthew Parks (Brittany) of Winter Haven, and Briana Gilley of Glenco of Alabama; along with his grandchildren: Mason, Chase, Cash, Grayson, Abigail, Penelope, Keyrstin, Bentley and Maya. He also leaves behind his siblings: Daniel Wood of Arkansas, Jerry Watkins of Ocala, Paul Watkins of Dade City, Melanie Cloud of Lakeland, Lisa Wood of Michigan, and his grandmother Genevieve Particia Cribbs, Sr. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 10 am to 11 am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow 11:00 am at the funeral home. A gathering at Mary Holland Park will be held in David’s honor at pavilion #8 from 1pm to 4pm.
