Darwin Lamar King, Sr.

Darwin Lamar King, Sr., 66, of Bartow, FL, died Sunday, Dec 27, 2009, at his Residence from heart failure. Mr. King was born June 19, 1943 in Alturas, FL. He served in the US Army. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff for Polk County Sheriff's Office. He also retired after 30 years from Polk County as a Engineer. Lamar was a member of Bartow Masonic Lodge #6. He and his wife enjoyed spending time in their vacation home in Marble, NC. He is survived by his Wife of 42 years-Mrs. Hilda King of Bartow. Daughter-Sonya Colson of Bartow. Son-Darry King of Bartow. Four Grandchildren-Hailey Colson, Tyler King, Brionna King and Abby King. Four Sister-Karen Hall and Melva Gay both of Bartow, Margo Haley of Lakeland and Mickey Johnson of Lake Wales. Brother-Wayne King of Lakeland The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 from 6 to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main Street in Bartow. Funeral service will be at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, FL.
