Mr. Darrin "Slim" DeWayne Howard, age 36, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 from heart failure in Bartow. Mr. Howard was born in Centreville, IL. He worked as a Construction Draftsman. Darrin is preceded in death by his birth father Freddie Boucher, and his grandparents; Albert Penrod, Ted and Alma Boucher, and Jack and Irene Howard. He is survived by a loving family that includes his parents; Jack and Valerie Howard of Homeland, his siblings; Andrea Howard (Greg Rhoden) of Homeland, Jared Howard (Amy) of Bartow, Freddie Owens of Murphysboro, IL, and Amy Lewis (Michael) of Bacliff, TX. He also leaves behind his nieces; Taylor Hall, Faith Cordle, Emma Howard, Selena Lewis, his nephews; Gregory Rhoden, Garrett Rhoden, Bubba Cordle, Mikey Lewis, Isaiah Lewis, Dalton Owens, and his maternal grandparents, Don and Helen Royer of Murphysboro, IL. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 22nd from 6PM to 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. A celebration of life ceremony will be held Thursday, January 23rd at 2:00PM at the funeral home chapel. A reception for family and friends will follow at the family's residence, 295 Mimosa Ave. in Homeland, following the ceremony.
