Conway A. "Buckey" Maddox

Conway A. "Buckey" Maddox, 67, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at his residence in Haines City of cancer . Born June 2, 1946 in Bartow, Mr. Maddox was a lifeong resident of the Bartow and Haines City area. He was the Public Safety Director for Grenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort in Haines City for many years. He was a retired Air Traffic Controler with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Maddox was formerly with the Bartow Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff's Department for several years. He served as Chief of the Grenelete Volunteer Fire Department . He was of the Lutheran faith. Mr. Maddox is preceded in death by his parents: Conway and Juanita Maddox. He is survived by his wife: Tina Maddox, Haines City; son: John A. Maddox, Fort Meade; brother: Steve Maddox, Lakeland; three sisters: Mary Maddox, Sarasota; Lydia Best, Lakeland & Sheila Maddox, Tampa; one grandson: Nathan Maddox, Fort Meade. Family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bartow. Interment with military honors will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
