Colleen A. Allen

Mrs. Colleen A. Allen, age 85, passed away from respiratory failure Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Born November 27, 1923 in Brewster, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Lavinia (Byrd) Ashley. Mrs. Allen was a longtime Bartow resident and a member of Main Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Allen, and her daughter Alice Faye Haynes. She is survived by her son Walter Lee Allen, II of Bartow, three daughters; Bonnie A. Haydin (Mike) of Tuscon, AZ, Rosemary A. Grubbs (George) of Bartow, and Betty A. Gualtieri (Jerry) of Roswell, GA. She also leaves behind , five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow, where the family will receive friends Thursday, November 12th from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will follow Friday November13th at 10:00am at the funeral home chapel. Memorials may be made to Main Street Baptist Church, 1140 East Main St. , Bartow, FL 33830.
