Clinton Monroe Polk

Clinton "Monroe" Polk Sr. 80 of Fort Meade, FL passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale from cancer. Born in 1933 as a native of Wauchula, Fl. He played as Center for the the Hardee County Wildcats for the graduating class of 1952 in Wauchula. Monroe moved to Fort Meade and opened the Fort Meade NAPA Store with his wife Mary in 1958. He was a Korean War Veteran and served three years as a Battalion Parts Clerk for the Army Third Armored Division. Monroe was very active in the Fort Meade Community. He was a member and a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade and also a past Officer for the Fort Meade Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. Monroe was also very involved in the Fort Meade School System by participating in the PTA and often volunteering to work the High School Concessions and numerous other School Functions. He was a avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. A loving husband, father and grandfather he will be dearly missed. Monroe was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lola Raulerson Polk of Wauchula and is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Camp Polk of Fort Meade; son Clint M. Polk Jr. of Fort Meade; daughter Barbara Polk Davis and husband Joesph of Clarksville, GA. Four grandchildren Bethany, Naomi and Hannah Davis of Clarksville, GA and Michael Polk of Fort Meade. One brother Freeman Polk and wife Gwen Knight of Zephyrhills, FL. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28th from 5-7pm at the McLean Funeral Home 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL 33841 with Funeral Services to be conducted on Wednesday at 11am at the McLean Funeral Home. Burial services will follow immediately at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcleanfuneralhome.net
