Charles E. Stone, Sr.

Bartow- Mr. Charles E. Stone, Sr., age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Lakeland. Born September 12, 1932 in Ravenel, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel Swanson and Bessie (Reynolds) Stone. Mr. Stone was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from C.F. Industries as a Maintenance Supervisor after working many years in the phosphate industry. He was a member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church of Bartow, the Winter Haven Moose and Elks Lodges, along with the American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven. Mr. Stone is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred A. Stone and his sister, Betsy Lacey. He is survived by his children: Cindy S. Byrd (Neal) of Frostproof, Charles E. "Chuck" Stone, Jr. of Bartow, his brother, Swanson Stone (Shirley) of Virginia, his grandson, Jeremy Byrd and great grandson Benjamin Byrd both of Babson Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 1st from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, February, 2nd at 2:00pm at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church.
