Bartow- Charles A. Richardson, 83, died Sunday, October 19, 2008, at Palm Terrace Hospice in Lakeland of heart failure. Born May 20, 1925 in St. Petersburg, Mr. Richardson has been a resident of Bartow since 1951, moving from Lakeland. He attended the West Point Military Academy; University of Florida; University of South Florida and was a graduate of Florida Southern College. He was an Army WW II veteran serving in the Counter Intelligence corps. Mr. Richardson was an accountant with Blount & Richardson Accounting firm for over 20 years. He was an elder with the First Presbyterian Church of Bartow. A former Mayor of the City of Bartow for three terms, He served on the city commission and the Bartow Airport Authority for nine years. He served as Bartow City Auditor and Clerk for several years. He was the Accounting Officer for IMC Phosphate for five years. He was listed in the 1969-70 edition of Who's Who in South & Southwest Region. He was past president of the Bartow Lions Club and Board of Directors and volunteer for the Dixie Youth League for several years. He was a former co-owner of the Baggy Pants Ranch. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Grace E. "Betty" Richardson; son: C. Thomas & wife Cindy Richardson of Bradenton; daughter; Elizabeth Ann & Chris Pipes of Amelia Island; one brother: Joe & wife Joan Richardson of Titusville; 3 grandchildren: Matt Pipes of Amelia Island; Lee & Zach Richardson of Bradenton. Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 21, 6-8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be Wednesday 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 355 S.
