Charles E. McCue 73 of Bartow passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from heart failure at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Born in New Brockton, AL he moved to Polk County in 1947. Charles was a Engineer for the Florida Dept. of Transportation in Bartow and retired with 47 years of service. He was a lifetime member of both the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #3 of Bartow and the Jaycees International of Bartow. He was also a former member of the Winter Haven Masonic Lodge and of the Baptist Faith. Charles enjoyed the outdoors and was a avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Barbara W. McCue of Bartow. Two daughters Vickie Spivey and husband Randy of Bartow and Cathy Bridges and husband Rick of Bartow. One stepdaughter Maryjane Lineberger and husband Ron of Polk City. Two stepsons David Fudge and wife Katja of Valrico and Paul Ford and wife Julie of Winter Haven. One Brother Terry McCue and wife Wanda of Homeland. Three grandchildren Amanda Eckert, Frances Spivey and Joshua Eckert all of Bartow. Five step grandchildren Matt Spivey of Kathleen, Sara Fudge of Valrico, Bailie Spivey of Kathleen, Nicklas Fudge of Valrico and James Ford of Winter Haven. Three great grandchildren Madison, Trey and Brandon. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1st from 5-7pm at the home of Vickie Spivey, 880 De La Bosque Ave. Bartow, FL 33830. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 2nd at 10am at the Homeland Cemetery in Homeland with a Celebration of life and lunch to follow at the Bartow American Legion post #3 Social Hall. Donations may be made to the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital Spinal Cord Unit, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Tampa, FL 33612. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.whiddenmcleanfuneralhome.com
