Charles "Chuck" J. Spencer

Bartow - Charles "Chuck" Spencer, age 76, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. He was born October 25, 1949, in Terre Haute, IN to Charles & Betty Joe Spencer. Chuck was a United States Marine serving from 1968-1970, serving three tours in The Vietnam War and earning the rank of sergeant. He retired as Police Captain for Bartow Police Department, after over 28 years of service. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Bartow. He was preceded in death by his parents Chuck & Betty Joe Spencer and brother John Spencer. Chuck is survived by his wife of 56 years Ann Spencer, daughter Debi Horn & husband Ted, son Charles "Chuck" Spencer & wife Karyn, sister Virginia Surrency, two brothers Bill Nichols & wife Sherrell, Nic Nichols & wife Sheri, grandchildren Kayleigh (Brian), Hannah, Grant, Brandon, Jacob, great grandchildren; Baylee, Molly, Spencer and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday, September 7, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at St Thomas Catholic Church, 2180 S. Kissingen Ave in Bartow, FL. Burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
