It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Russ, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Carolyn left this world peacefully on November 5, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 15, 1940, in Camilla, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of Ernest Paul and Valda NeSmith Crosson.

Carolyn dedicated her life to caring for others, a calling she fulfilled with dignity and grace throughout her career as a nurse. A resident of Bartow, Florida, she was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, where she found community and purpose. Her deep faith and commitment to service showed in the countless hours she volunteered at the nursery at the First Baptist Church.

Carolyn had a warm, generous spirit, marked by a heart of gold and an unwavering willingness to do anything for anyone in need. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Known affectionately as the family swimming instructor, she took great joy in teaching each of her grandchildren, as well as children in the neighborhood, how to swim. Her love for flowers and nature was rivaled only by her fondness for shopping.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Frederick M. Russ, and her loving children, Anne Lowery (Michael) and Thomas "Tommy" Russ. She leaves behind five adoring grandchildren: Lindsey McTavey (Gabe), Brandon Russ, Bailey Russ, James Lowery (Tori), and Raelyn Lowery (Johnathan), as well as five great-grandchildren: Myles, Jack, Will, Haisley, and Dawson. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Klein, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Crosson and Jerry Crosson, and her sisters, Eloise C. Hager and Pauline Moran.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever endure in their hearts. Carolyn Russ will be deeply missed, yet her memory will linger on in the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Her commitment to family, faith, and community serves as an enduring testament to a life well-lived.
