Carolyn G. Griffin

Carolyn G. Griffin, age 78, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Lakeland. Born February 4, 1936 in Bradenton, FL, she was the daughter of the late Orlando and Vester Joiner. Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow and formerly a member of Marie Baptist Church in Dublin, GA. Mrs. Griffin was also a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tropical Chapter #38 in Bartow. She served as choir director and was heavily involved in the Women's Ministries of the churches she attended in Bartow, Georgia, and Michigan. Carolyn is preceded in death by her son Gary Sheldon. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, James H. Griffin, Jr. of Bartow, three children: Steven Sheldon of Winter Haven, David "Bo" Griffin (Karen) of Sebring, and PamelaKay D. Griffin (Janet) of Tampa. She also leaves behind her sister Annette Davis (Alan), her sister-in-law Linda Joiner all three of Lakeland, five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2014 from 10AM to 11AM at the First Baptist Church of Bartow. Memorial services for Mrs. Griffin will commence at 11:00AM at the church.
