DECATUR, GA. - Long time Bartow resident, Carol Hunt, 94, died of natural causes May 21, 2012 with family at her side in Decatur, Georgia. Mrs. Hunt was born May 12, 1918, in Philema, Georgia to Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Harris. Her father was a railroad depot master and her mother was a devoted homemaker. Carol attended Florida Southern College where she met her future husband, Bowdon Hunt. Carol and Bowdon settled in Bartow in the early 1940s. He was a long time judge in the court system of Polk County and she was a mother and homemaker. Carol was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bartow and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her interests included family, restoring antique furniture, sewing, reading, playing bridge, and traveling. She is survived by daughters Fran Hunt Lewis, Lynn Hunt Bronson, son Bowdon Hunt, Jr., four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and her brother Bert Harris, Jr. She was preceded in death by Judge Hunt and a nephew, Terry Nolan, whom she raised from the age of 12. A graveside service will be held in Bartow at the Wildwood Cemetery on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 11:00 AM.
