Carlton Guptill

Newman Carlton "Gup" Guptill, age 86, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale of heart failure. Born May 31, 1927 in Machiasport, ME, Mr. Guptill was a resident of Bartow for 26 years, moving from Conneticut, He was a WW II Veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines and a Navy veteran of the Korean War from 1951-1955. He was a field supervisor for the North East Utilities in Berlin, CT for 37 years. He was a visitation associate with Whidden-McLean Funeral Home , Bartow for over 19 years. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bartow, Past president twice of the Floral Lakes Homeowers Assoc; member of Americian Legion Post #3, Bartow. Mr. Guptil is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorthy F. Guptill, Bartow; daughter, Tammy Kenyon [Kim], East Lyme, CT; son, Timothy Guptill, Bartow; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren & several neices & nephews. A wake service and visitation will be held Sunday, July 14, 2012 from 4:00- 5:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held at Saint John's Catholic Church and interment in Old Saybrook Cemetery in Old Saybrook, CT. Memorials may be made to Saint Thomas Catholic Church, 2180 S.
